Photography festival
June 2 – June 20, 2021
Rivarolo Canavese (Turin)

Opening: Wednesday 2 June, 5 pm, Piazza Litisetto

From Wednesday 2 June to Sunday 20 June in the city of Rivarolo Canavese (Turin) RIPHOTO festival will return with its second edition, the result of the well-established collaboration between the Department of Culture of the Municipality and the cultural association Areacreativa42 chaired by Karin Reisovà . RIPHOTO, an event initially conceived as a photography exhibition organized on several locations in the city, the main one being the historic Villa Vallero, will play this year, also due to the anti-Covid provisions, the role of the outdoor festival, including exhibitions and activities, aiming in the intentions of the organizers at creating a “moment of encounter between the territory and artistic culture”, helping to promote, through a proposal of high-level content, the cultural vitality of the Canavese area.

The festival, particularly open to young artists, will present a selection of free-themed works in ten significant areas of the city of Rivarolo, capable of representing both the individuality of the participating authors, and an overview of the photographic language in its contemporary forms, in continuity with the first edition and with the desire to give space also to artists who interpret the photographic medium in an atypical and experimental way.
The photographers participating in RIPHOTO# 2, which will be inaugurated on Wednesday 2 June at 5 pm with greetings from the Municipal Administration, will be: Luca Abbadati, Francesco Andreoli, Luce Berta, Giacomo Carmagnola, Tomaso Clavarino, Klim Kutsevskyy, the LaterArte duo (composed by Mauro Serra and Lucia del Pasqua), Sandra Lazzarini, Francesco Saverio Tani and Alma Vassallo. Curated by a team of young collaborators, active members of Areacreativa42, RIPHOTO# 2 aims to enhance photography as a symbolic language of the new millennium, capable of activating a resonance between visual culture and everyday life, bringing people closer to an artistic sensitivity.

The 2021 edition of RIPHOTO, in compliance with the anti-Covid provisions, will take place outdoors, with guided tours of the city, on the opening weekends, in groups of twelve people (modifiable according to any new regulations on Covid-19 ), departing from the offices of the tourist office and the Pro Loco (piazza Litisetto), identified as a reference point for reservations and information on the festival (open Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 12 and from 15 to 18). Alongside the exhibition activity and in line with the 2020 edition, the festival will be completed and enriched by collateral events such as workshops, RIPHOTO KIDS (workshops for children and young people organized in collaboration with the Pro Loco and tourist office), and RIPHOTO OFF, the section of the event designed to accommodate the independent proposals of the city’s commercial establishments, committed to making their windows available for small photographic exhibitions dedicated to amateurs and professionals.

RIPHOTO # 2 is organized by the cultural association Areacreativa42 with the contribution of the Municipality of Rivarolo Canavese and Ascom, the collaboration of the Department of Culture and Commerce of the City of Rivarolo Canavese, the Tourist Office Pro Loco, and with the patronage of the Region Piedmont and Metropolitan City of Turin.
