LUIGI BELLO – MAURO DAVOLI

SOLILOQUIES WITH NATURE

Curated by Karin Reisovà

6 – 14 September 2014

The show opens the exhibition “Rare fruits at Santa”, the meeting point between nature and men. In the exhibition halls of Villa Camperio the works of the two artists are related to share an atmosphere of silence where the voices and written words are superfluous.

Thoughts are gestures that create the textural paintings by Luigi Bello and the meditated shots by Mauro Davoli. On one side the relationship with nature is the result of the need of the artist to express himself in an instinctive, visceral way, with the use of natural colors which find a way out on plasters and material compositions with abstract esthetic additions and new solutions, even after being a painter for fifty years.
For Davoli, however, the relationship with nature is born from meditation; he develops, through elegant symbols, the observation of nature, creating a “theatrum naturae.”

His work was inspired by the perspective composition of the paintings of the Flemish artist Adrian Cohort, and he revived it today, with his refined photographic technique.
They share the search for the essence and the emptiness.
